Green List Occupations

Occupations With a Direct Pathway to Residence

Eligible migrants that have roles on the New Zealand Green List can come to New Zealand on a work visa from 4 July 2022. Those eligible can also apply for this residence pathway from September 2022.

Green List occupations with a direct pathway to residence are:

Business Professionals

  • External Auditor (Minimum salary requirement $80,200.64 per annum)
  • Internal Auditor (Minimum salary requirement $80,200.64 per annum)

Occupations With a Work Pathway to Residence

Occupations that may apply for residence after working in New Zealand for two years or longer are:

Civil Operations

  • Earthmoving Plant Operator (General) - minimum $34.11 per hour or above or the equivalent annual salary ($70,947 per annum) 
  • Backhoe Operator
  • Bulldozer Operator
  • Excavator Operator
  • Grader Operator
  • Loader Operator

Education Roles

  • Kaiako Kura Kaupapa Māori (Māori medium Primary School Teacher) 
  • Middle School Teacher / Intermediate School Teacher 
  • Pouako Kura Kaupapa Māori (Māori medium Primary School Senior Teacher)
  • Primary School Teacher 
  • School Principal
  • Secondary School Teachers Science, Mathematics, Technology or Pacific Languages.
  • Skilled Residence: Transport Sector Work to Residence visa.
  • Special Education Teachers
  • Teachers – Early Childhood
  • Teacher of the Hearing Impaired

  • Building Associate (Building Construction supervisor) - minimum $44.49 per hour or the equivalent annual salary ($92,540 per annum) Common examples of job titles for this role are site supervisor, site manager, site foreman, build supervisor, build manager, civil project manager

  • Construction Crane, Hoist or Lifter Operator - minimum $38.56 per hour or above, or the equivalent annual salary ($80,200 per annum)
