Wage rates for working migrants about to change

From Monday, 27 February the median wage increases to $29.66 per hour (or a salary of $61,692.80 based on a 40 hour week). The median wage is used to assess Accredited Employer Work Visas (AEWV) applications and most residence applications (where job offers, or income thresholds are required).

The increased median wage will apply to AEWV, and residence applications lodged on or after 27/02/2023.

If you are preparing to lodge a AEWV NZ or residence application and are paid less than $29.66 per hour your only protection is to apply before 27/02/2023. An AEWV application lodged after this date will require a new job check to be processed and approved plus proof your employer has increased your pay.

The residence categories affected are: Green List and Highly Paid pathways, the Skilled Migrant Category, and the Parent Category.
