New Zealand golden visa is a winner

In just 7 weeks the Active Investor Plus Visa (AIP) has attracted 131 applications from around the globe representing potential investment of over $800 million. Most of these investment dollars will flow into New Zealand companies to help them grow, support new jobs and launch new businesses.

It really is exciting for New Zealand because not only do we get foreign direct investment (meeting the governments objective) but incredibly talented people who want to help make a difference to our country. AIP applicants are joining company boards, sharing international connections and ideas, plus investing heavily beyond just the dollar requirements of the investor visa.

The majority of applicants are from USA, China, Hong Kong and Germany.

INZ making a good first impression

Immigration NZ (INZ) have really stepped up to process AIP applications quickly once they land on an Immigration Officer’s desk. Most applications are being decided in two weeks or so from lodgement date. This is really important because INZ is usually the first interface a migrant investor has with New Zealand. How they are treated by government officials leaves an impression, and if the applications move quickly without lots of nit-picking, this creates a positive start to the investor migrant making New Zealand their home.

The timing for this new visa could not be better with many countries closing their doors to investor migrants or unable to process the huge number of applications sitting in queues. This significantly benefits New Zealand and shows we have a real competitive advantage.
