New occupations added

At long last nurses and midwives now have an immediate pathway to residence. We have been calling for these highly skilled health workers to be added to the Green List and finally it has happened. NZ is completing internationally for health workers and attractive immigration polices are one of the keys to successful offshore recruitment. Several specialist medical doctor roles have also been added.

Auditors join the straight to residence pathway in March 2023.

Also, in March 2023 a new group of occupations secure a Work to Residence pathway. This means after two years of working in NZ in one of these occupations a residence application may be lodged. The new tier 2 green list nz occupations are:

Civil construction supervisors

Gasfitters

Drainlayers

Skilled crane operators

Skilled civil machine operators

Halal slaughterers

Skilled motor mechanics

Skilled telecommunications technicians

All secondary school teachers (in addition to the specialisations already on the Green List)

Primary school teachers

The Green list is being reviewed in mid-2023 so expect further change.
