Mandatory vaccination required for international travellers

From 1 November 2021 anyone who is not a NZ citizen must be fully vaccinated (unless exempt) before travelling to New Zealand. Fully vaccinated means your last dose of vaccine was given at least 14 days before travelling and it was an approved vaccine.

Evidence of your vaccination status will be asked for at airline check-in prior to departing overseas and on arrival in New Zealand at the immigration desk.

There are few exceptions to the vaccination rule.

Air New Zealand will require all their international customers (including NZ citizens) to be fully vaccinated from 1 February 2022.

The requirements for Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) are changing. From 14 November 2021 time spent in a MIQ facility will reduce from 14 days to 7 days with another 3 days spent self-isolating at home. The government expects to add more flexibility at the border for fully vaccinated arrivals from low-risk countries in the first quarter of 2022. Keep ahead of the news here.
