Skilled Migrants and Parents face more delay

Skilled workers will be frustrated by yet another delay by the government preventing them applying for residence. The Minister of Immigration has deferred selections of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for Skilled Migrants for another 6 months. This decision will be reviewed before the end of March 2021.

This will frustrate many skilled workers in New Zealand working and paying taxes left with no clear pathway to apply for residence. The delays raise all sorts of issues including workers hitting the age limit (cannot apply if older than 55), restrictions on buying homes and getting children into tertiary studies to name but a few.

If you have staff affected there are potentially other pathways to residence if your business is accredited (or willing to become accredited). You do not want to run the risk of losing skilled talent that decide to leave the country. Recommend they talk to Malcolm Pacific Immigration for a free assessment.
