2021 Resident Visa - new opportunity

Some of your migrant workforce may qualify for this new visa. It is a pathway for certain work visa holders to qualify for residence of New Zealand. The government estimates around 110,000 work visa holders can apply. Once families are included in the applications around 165,000 people are expected to be granted residence.

Applications close on 31 July 2022. Anyone who does not apply before this date will miss out.

Unfortunately, the government left out people holding Specific Purpose Work Visas (SPV). We know of doctors, dentists, IT specialists, digital animators, and CEOs to name but a few of the highly skilled occupations who are working in New Zealand holding an SPV. We have written to the Minister of Immigration recommending he urgently reviews this omission. The risk is we lose the top talent that New Zealand desperately needs right now because they have no pathway to residence. Without residence, people cannot buy homes, get children easily into territory education and move on with life.
