If you are reading this small type it is probably because you have genuine concerns about privacy. You will be re-assured to learn that we at Malcolm Pacific have too; especially in the modern context of so-called “national security”.
For example; when you go on the official Immigration New Zealand website, keystrokes and information you enter will be shared with other government and security agencies, including those of foreign governments; notwithstanding their published privacy policy says they won’t do it. In fact, telling you what they really do with your personal data would itself be a breach of national security!
When you explore airline routes and bookings on line, that information, too, is shared with government agencies around the world in the interests of “national security”. We are pleased our airline, Air New Zealand, has a privacy policy that discloses that fact (even if it is in small type).
In many cases so-called “immigration information and advice” and “free assessment” web sites are only there to gather your information then sell it to third parties, for profit. Unfortunately you probably will not be aware of that until after it is too late to do anything about it.
In the case of Malcolm Pacific our position is very clear; your privacy is of great importance to us. We do not collect or use personal data for any purpose other than to send information requested by you. We will not disclose your personal data to other organizations outside Malcolm Pacific, including government institutions and authorities, without your permission. Personal data you leave with us while using our site and services may be seen by our employees who are obliged, by their employment contract with us and by New Zealand law, to respect your confidentiality.
There are two types of cookies (a “cookie” is a small piece of computer code placed in one computer by another); “session cookies” which expire and “persistent cookies” which do not. The Malcolm Pacific website does use session cookies to help us record site usage statistics, but they expire when you close your browser. We do not use persistent cookies.
We have security policies, rules and technical measures in place that protect data under our control from:
- unauthorized access
- improper use or disclosure
- unauthorized modification
- unlawful destruction or accidental loss.
These are constantly reviewed and upgraded to keep us one jump ahead.
If you have supplied personal contact information to use our on-line services, you can ask our web manager to give you a copy and make any changes you require.
