Permanent Resident Visa applications

Apply for a Permanent Resident Visa (PRV), two years after your resident visa was first granted.
Permanent Resident Visa applications

A large group of people were granted residence in late 2021 and throughout 2022 under the 2021 Resident Visa category. Most should qualify to apply for a Permanent Resident Visa (PRV) two years from when the resident visa was first granted.

To be granted a PRV the main applicant in the original residence application must demonstrate they made a commitment to New Zealand. This commitment can be demonstrated various ways such as time spent in New Zealand, home ownership, tax status and so forth.

There will be people affected by changed circumstances since the first resident visa was granted. This may include relationship break ups, new character issues, family not included in the original residence application etc. If this applies to you take advice now. The PRV application is date sensitive so applying on the right date can be critical to a successful outcome.

Navigating a PRV application can be complex. Avoid risk and take advice today from trusted immigration professionals to protect you and your family’s long-term position in New Zealand.

Tip. Check the expiry date of your passport (and for your family). If you have less than 6 months left on a passport validity it may pay to renew the passport before applying for a PRV. Take advice.
