Minsterial Intervention

This article is about Immigration Policy but it is not a description of policy. In our opinion simplified descriptions of policy are dangerous. If you want to know why we think that, read “Why things go wrong”.

Ministerial Intervention.  Elsewhere in this website we have explained how Ministerial intervention is always possible. (Special cases). The question that always arises is whether it is appropriate to seek such intervention given the circumstances of a particular case. Appeal to the Minister is not normally appropriate when a case has been considered and declined by an immigration officer, because an alternative appeal route is available and the Minister will normally want that route taken before he intervenes.
