New Zealand has complex relationships with Pacific nations. There are strong economic, cultural and strategic linkages but also, in some cases, constitutional connections that reflect our colonial past.

Samoan Quota: There are special places available for Samoan citizens under the age of 45, in Samoa, but with an offer of employment in New Zealand. The Samoan Quota is administered out of Apia.
Pacific Access:  400 applicants from Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati, not otherwise eligible, can be accepted each year, on a lottery basis.
New Zealand Citizens. Citizens of some Pacific Countries are constitutionally entitled to New Zealand Citizenship..
